Although sketching is something I like to do, the wonder of working straight in oils progressed naturally through sheer determination. It is however preferable to first plan a painting according to traditional methods, for a successful, smooth operation, and a more direct route to a balanced perspective, To sketch guide lines of positioning and proportion in pencil, crayon or pastel etc, before embarking on any serious artwork obviously is logical.
Painting without sketching is far more time consuming in the long run, being a trial and error method. But it is the route I took.

of people in paintings which add interest in landscapes, town scenes and the like.
This theme is therapeutic more than detailed, the purpose being to reflect human beings as the up right standing species with discerning intellect, compassion and tolerance.
