Refreshing on the eyes, when one travels through the countryside surrounding the main highways on the Garden Route. Little did I know, after we went on our last family holiday in 1992, that I would end up having a three year working adventure, in Knysna/Plettenberg Bay, now the home and playground of the rich and famous and still a major tourist destination in South Africa. B&B paradise is a honeymoon haven.
1994. Oilpaint on canvas.
The Brush and Bush yields gentle Fynbos upon close scrutiny. A great bio-diversity exists on the plateau of the Wittedrift and Outenique Mountain ranges of the Western Cape, Garden route escarpments. Anyone who walks these miles cannot fail to cultivate a natural awe of Nature and its ability to adapt to the conditions, and display such manifold varieties of little flowers, that are indigenous to the Cape regions of South Africa. The rising sun's effect in the early morning is superb, which experience can hardly be captured artificially. The atmosphere is cool and clean and referred to as Champagne air.
Tzitzikamma Forest Series. Stands upright, painted on a sliced section of still-barked, log of wood, which is usually discarded as firewood, once the planks are sawn from logs, making a statement about de-forestization
As in the Knysna Forest, scenic route, before Garden of Eden, Garden Route.

The time of the reference photograph was approximately 4.45pm. The boats were parked for the evening and apart from one or two figures in the the boat hulls, not anyone was visible at that moment, but for a few marketers at the stalls behind, from where this photo was taken. Behind, the fish harvest stall holders were busy packing up for the night, and the restaurants preparing the evening meals.

On this day, the familiar boat in the harbour channel had just been given a new coat of paint.
