A vast difference today, as in the days of the master painters of history, when colours had to be sourced and mixed in a time consuming procedure.
Today's art shops present everything in the 'tools of the trade' categories, that one cares to think of, and as many beautiful colours as one can imagine. There are variants of hues and shades, consistencies and sources, that in itself is a journey of discovery. This is the most valuable aspect of formal training, in that one derives a discipline with colour discernment.
As taught by the professionals, and having gone the route of experience, there are many criterion that affects a painting before one can truly call it done.
Besides consistency and trueness of colour, there are the mediums, mixing oils, and turpentines to take into account.
The weather too is a factor, and in the days of the master painters of oils, a work would have drying periods of up to six months between layers. This enabled several undertakings to be executed simultaneously.
It is up to the individual to find his or her own happy method, often by trial and error.
Morning Light series turned out a few variations on the reflected light. I was about to convert the rest of the painting but stopped there, as I liked the abstract quality and want to show the interest in drawing in paint, which is unrestricted and more flexible and spontaneous. It could come under a category of Intuitional Art.

Unseen assistance can be rendered if one has a peaceful and quiet studio that lends itself to creativity. Even out of the untrained hand can come many a surprise, almost like invisible helpers rushing to one's aid and creating for you ~ like the Elves and the Shoemaker. The reason that this style will always be unique to a particular artist, whoever paints this way, is that each person comes with their own individual accumulation and summary of experience which they convert into a style, subject matter, or colourisation, according to their train of thoughts, conviction and hand delivery.

Conversational wisdom. Perhaps the story teller under the tree is reminding the ladies of the simple way of living which is every human's inheritance. About the gifts of nature, of how the perfection of the Creator's consideration, sends the sun to warm us and then cools us with the breezes. Reminding us to tune into the atmosphere around, the sky for a roof, the distance for walls and the horizon best left alone.
Further to the above, the Acrylics journey lent itself well to a bowl of fruit in the afternoon sun and is well on its way to a career in Acrylics and abstracts. Given the opportunity, but if not it is okay.
